Hale Adoption and Training Center

We would like to thank all of the incredible individuals who have donated toward this life-changing project. All of us at High Sierra Animal Rescue are so touched by the outpouring of support and kindness shown. We are thrilled to share that construction is now underway and our foundation is set in place. We expect this building to be finished in the next few months and cannot wait to start using it as our adoption and training center. Until we are able to include a donation wall in our building, please find the supporters of this project and those they have chosen to honor or memorialize below. Thank you from the staff, board of directors, and dogs at HSAR.

For over 25 years, High Sierra Animal Rescue has been a beacon of hope for homeless dogs. Our dedicated team tirelessly provides shelter, love, and second chances to animals in need. However, we’ve felt the need to expand our horizon for some time.

To continue our mission and provide the best possible care, we're embarking on an ambitious project to construct an additional building on our property. This open-concept space will allow our staff and volunteers to conduct enrichment and obedience training in a distraction-free environment, ensuring every dog receives the attention and care they deserve. It will also create a welcoming and inviting space for potential adopters to meet their furry friends, fostering stronger bonds between people and pets. Additionally, the space can be utilized for future community events, such as meetings and workshops.

Your support of our new facility will directly impact countless lives. Witnessing transformations of long-stay dogs like Ivory and Uno is truly heartwarming. These once jumpy and excitable pups blossomed into well-mannered companions thanks to the countless hours our team dedicates to training and development. Today, they live happy lives with loving families, a testament to the impact of training and hard work.

Every gift, no matter the size, brings us closer to our goal. We’ll commemorate your donation with a special place on our donor wall within the new building. Want to honor a loved one? Consider a memorial or honorary donation for a special person or animal that has touched your life. Their name will be proudly displayed alongside many other animal lovers.

If your donation is in honor or memory of someone special, please select that option at the time of donation. We would be happy to send a personalized letter to the family or friends you wish to notify. If you would like to avoid credit card fees online, you are welcome to send HSAR a check at PO Box 548 Portola, CA 96122 with a note detailing that your donation is to go toward the Hale Adoption and Training Center. If you wish to remember/honor someone (or a dog) with your donation please mail a note including those details as well.

We are incredibly grateful to Kathryn Hale, a wonderful adopter who launched this dream with her generous legacy gift to HSAR. We will be calling this building the Hale Adoption and Training Center in her honor.
